Volunteer at home

Volunteering with Mercy Ships is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and have lots of fun. We need volunteers who can give time and energy to organise events, fundraise and help out in our national office. Regardless of your skills, you can make a lasting difference in a world of need.

We are especially looking for volunteers in the following areas of expertise:

• proofreading of documents in French, German, English or Italian
• translation of documents in French, German, English or Italian
• presentation of the work of Mercy Ships in churches, communities, groups and others
• representation of Mercy Ships in their church, community, groups and others
• cooking meals once a week for all the staff ("community lunch")
• repairing of electrical and plumbing problems (handyman)
• cleaning of the offices

Mercy Ships is making such a profound difference in the lives of those in desperate need in West Africa. To be even more effective we need more crew to join our ship and more partners at home to keep the ship afloat! But this can only happen if people know who we are and what we are doing.

To keep our overhead to a minimum and to send the most funds possible to the field we have chosen not to spend large sums of money on publicity and advertising. But we have found an effective and efficient way to get the work out!

Our desire is to have at least one, if not more, distribution volunteer(s) in each major city in Switzerland, who would receive a monthly package of material (posters, flyers, invitations or newsletters) for distribution in public locations.
